GENERAL INFORMATION
Beginning in 2008, the Eau Claire Community Foundation will accept applications for two types of grants:
*Program funding, and
*Asset purchase or improvements.
Separate applications are available for each type, and can be obtained by calling the Foundation's office at 715-552-3801, or download the application(s) needed from this website.
Grant seekers are strongly encouraged to:
* Contact the Eau Claire Community Foundation Grants Coordinator, Lorraine Henning (715) 552-3801 ext. 12 prior to submitting a grant request if you have questions or a need for information;
* Submit a letter of intent by e-mail grants@eccommunityfoundation.org or 306 S. Barstow Suite 104, P.O.Box 511, Eau Claire, WI 54702-0511. In your letter of intent, briefly state your project and the scope of your request;
* Attend a one-hour orientation session on the 2008 Grant Application. Select from one of the following times: Tuesday February 6th at 9am or noon, or Thursday February 7th, at 10am, 1pm, or 5 pm. These sessions are free, but reservations are necessary.
APPLICATION DEADLINES:
*Proposals should be delivered (306 S. Barstow Suite 104) or mailed to the Eau Claire Community Foundation, P.O. Box 511, Eau Claire, WI 54702-0511.
*Proposals must be postmarked or delivered to the foundation office by the grant cycle due date of Monday March 17th 2008
*Proposals sent by facsimile or electronic mail are not accepted.
*Grant announcements will be made the end of May and checks distributed at the Foundation's Annual Meeting scheduled for June 2008
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
*Grant applications must be typed
*One original and 15 copies of application are required
*One copy of the following attachments is required:
1) Most recent audited financial statement or form 990 tax return
2) List of Board of Directors
3) Annual Report (if available)
4) A copy of your current IRS determination letter indicating 501(c)(3), or 509(a) tax exempt status, or evidence that your organization is not a private foundation as defined in Section 509(a). If not available, please explain status.
5) If you are being sponsored by another agency, submit their tax-exempt letter and a signed letter from them indicating their sponsorship.
GUIDELINES
The Eau Claire Community Foundation supports programs enriching community life. The Foundation serves Eau Claire and its surrounding area by giving grants to organizations whose programs address the our cultural, educational, environmental, recreational, and social service needs. The Foundation has awarded over $1.6 million in grants to over 85 non profit organizations.
The Foundation seeks to understand both the specific objectives of a grant request and the long-term benefits of the community if the request is to be funded. Grants will only be awarded to organizations that are tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Grant applications are evaluated with consideration to the policies, funding objectives and the mission statement of the Eau Claire Community Foundation. Special emphasis is given to funding programs in the areas of:
Arts and Culture - Education - Environment - Recreation - Social Services
The Foundation favors innovative proposals that:
* Originate in the area and demonstrate strong volunteer involvement
* Promote collaboration and reduce duplication of services
* Strengthen the ability of our community to respond more effectively to needs
* Help people help themselves
* Build upon the strengths of the community
* Apply the Foundation's resources optimally to meet an important community need
The Foundation does not generally fund applications from unrestricted funds for:
* Repetitive grants
* Grants for debt retirement, annual campaigns, lobbying or emergency funding
* Direct grants to individuals
* Contributions to endowment funds
* Regular operational expenses of a program
* Sectarian (religious) programs
ELIGIBILITY
Eligible organizations must:
* Be classified as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or another qualified 501(c)(3) organization must agree to serve as fiscal agent, in which case a letter of agreement signed by both parties must accompany the proposal.
* Be located in or provide services to residents within the Greater Eau Claire Area
